Hands down the best app for anyone learning Japanese. But the app never stays in its session when you leave the app, and there are many tiny UI elements thats buggy in my iPhone 6s. Needs to be updated.

This app was $8 when I bought it and I dont often download paid apps, but this was easily the best 8 bucks Ive ever spent on an app and Id do it again in a heartbeat. Ive been living and working in Japan for about 9 months now and when I came here I had next to no knowledge of the Languge. This app has been my trustee study companion for the past 9 months and will be long into the future. It does need to be updated though. It has a few small bugs/design flaws that should be addressed, as others have pointed out.

thats honestly the best Japanese dictionary Ive seen so far. it has almost everything in it and it also makes learning the language much easier I could pray for this app forever

I have been studying Japanese for years now and this app is the one that I keep coming back to again and again. It is intuitive and doesnt take much learning to use it effectively. The hand-writing option is super for looking up kanji and for practicing them. If you only have enough to buy one dictionary app, I would highly recommend this one.

Great Kanji conversions and romanji lookup. Ability to save finds into lists extremely helpful. Can also learn new words with their study function. A+

I love this app, and use it daily. The fact that it works entirely offline has been a lifesaver for me, but lack of iCloud support between iPhone and iPad adds an extra headache that doesnt need to exist. If youre on the fence its a worthy addition to your device, but a fix to share your lists and history when you do have Internet access would make this app truly perfect.

Much better now that the lexical categories are back. Practically perfect.

After the latest update the font size when studying example sentences hurts my eyes. Please fix this. I love this app too much but it hurts my eyes.

Easy to search, easy to use, comprehensive, accurate, well designed, stable ... I cant praise this app enough. Search works by inputting English or Japanese, and Japanese input can be romaji, kana, or kanji - extremely flexible. Results include numerous examples as well as the meanings of word components. If you are fluent in Japanese (as I am), a student just beginning to learn the language, a traveller, or an expat in the Land of the Rising Sun, this is the dictionary for you. Highest recommendation! To the app developer: Please keep up the great work!!

This app was a very nice surprise! Very intuitive and comprehensive. Just what I was looking for! Love the floating words on the home screen for a random start to a impromptu study session. With the handwriting feature, I can easily look up words I cant pronounce yet. So handy! The only issue I have with it is it crashes on me. Please fix this.

Apart from an update for iOS7 and the fact that the hand writing function is almost unusable in its current state then if give it five stars for its fast search function and great flash card system. An SRS system might also be handy rather than just randomising it.

I use this app when know no Japanese, now I still use this app from day to day basis even when I have passed the N1 for a year. In my opinion this is one of the best jp-eng dictionary on iOS. Cant wait for the iOS 7 look update. This app is definitely worth the price. Appreciate the good work!

I like the Kanji drawing function the best even though sometime the result is not efficiently enough, it still far better than any other dictionary. The word cutting in sentence search is also the best.

Comprehensive and easy to use. Highly recommended.

Saw the don’t update to 7.1 warning AFTER updating. Guess I’ll have to wait for the update.

The current update breaks the search function. If you buy, your expensive piece of software will not work. DO NOT BUY!

This app saves my butt on a multitude of levels. Im a full time college student in Japan and all of my classes are taught in Japanese. I cant count how many times I use this app not only to look up kanji but also to confirm sentence structure as well. This is a must have for Japanese speakers and for those learning it.

Excellent. Much better than imiwa and worth the money. I especially like the full size screen for drawing kanji. Update: another great update. Much better kanji recognition and handwriting input with multiple entry possible.

Since my arrival in Japan nearly 5 years ago Im using this dictionary and it helped me in all stages, from absolute beginner to upper level reading books in Japanese. Thanks!
